Hello world!

Ok, so this is my first post ever I hope it will be a little bit interesting at least. I’m from Sweden as you might have noticed by my name hehe and a very great friend of mine (Brad) got this idea that I should blog about Sweden or the life in Sweden and so. And here it is hehe… enjoy it!!!

I want to tell you some things about myself here even though there is some info about me in my presentation. So…

MeMy name is Madeleine Arnason and im 19 years old. I am half Swedish and half Icelandic. I live in a small town in the south of Sweden called Båstad. In summer it is a very popular town thanks to the Swedish Open which is held here every year. Alot of Swedish celebrities and rich people come here during that time to party and be sure to be seen in the right place at the right time.

Anyway, so I live in two places because my parents are divorced. I have one sister who is 20 (Caroline) and she is studying Service Management and has got a boyfriend called Kecke (Andreas). My mother’s name is Marie and she works at a shop (Vitalité) where they sell alternative healthcare. She has got a boyfriend called Henrik and they live together in a little house just outside Båstad. My dad works as a lightdesigner and a taxidriver. He has got many names but the real one is Björn (means bear in English, pretty amusing) he is the one who is responsible of the Icelandic part of me. He also has got a new partner and her name is Pia. Pia had two daughters (Julia 10 and Olivia 13) with her former fiance and i now call them my sisters. Oh and i almost forgot… I have two lovely cats. Tiger looks like Garfield (act’s like him too) and lives at my mom’s place and then there is Tarzan (skinny but also orange) who lives at my dad’s place. That is about everyone in my family then.

The entire last school year I was in Germany as an exchangestudent and there I got to do some pretty amazing stuff. the best thing was that I got to work at the G8-summit in Heiligendamm. I worked in the Pool Service, meaning that I was resposible of a group of journalists and had to show them where they were allowed to take photos. We had to wear a quite ugly white skirt and jacket but I guess that was cause it had to look professional.

Except for that I got the opportunity to take an exam in Business English for foreigners from the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry. I chose the hardest level and passed all parts. I was so nervous about the written part, I thought I would fail but I got a Pass there, on the listening part I got Pass with Distinction and the oral part Pass with Credit. I was very happy when I got the certificate.

The school I go to in sweden is Called Båstad Privata Gymnasium (has nothing to do with the English word) and is a private school (but a free one just as all other schools in Sweden are). The school’s profile is Global Management and that includes alot of economy, languages and leadership. I really really like my school cause we get so many great opportunities and get to experience alot of cool things like race-sailing, climbing, rib-boats and survival days in the forest. We also get to travel alot as for example to Stockholm (the Swedish capital) or to Germany to our partner school over there.

I think it is time for me to end this first post of mine now before I bore you with all the details of my life hehe. And next time I will write more about sweden than me I think hehe. See you

/Madeleine
